MOVIE

Do you think this is a true story?

Yes, I think so.

Can this really happen in today's modern times?

Yes, I think so.


This movie was so funny.
Few Japanese are deeply devoted to a specific religion and that, in fact, many profess to have no interest in religion at all. In the other countries, faith to the religion is fervent, and it strongly has an influence on life. So even if there is a thing such as this movie, it isn't strange at all.

Wedding

1.Since Japanese weddings are expensive, do you think having a massive wedding like Korea or UAE is a good idea?

A wedding ceremony is a important event once in the life. Therefore you should hold a wedding ceremony grandly without regretting money.


2. What do you think about eloping? Having a wedding in a foreign location like Hawaii?

I think eloping is too bad. The lover cannot obtain "the true happiness" if I do not have you bless you from a relative.
I want to have mine wedding in Hawaii. The Hawaiian scenery and atmosphere are very good. Many Japanese couples will also hold wedding ceremonies there.

3.What is your ideal wedding?

I am blessed by several relatives and acquaintances and hold a wedding ceremony abroad. I want to wear beautiful white wedding dress.


4.What would you definitely do, wear or go to on that big day? Why is that important?

I want a professional photographer to photograph the DVD of the wedding ceremony.


5. Have you ever been to a foreigner's wedding? What was your impression?

I have never been to a foreigner's wedding. But I really want to go there.

SUPERSTITIONS

Do you think it is important to talk about superstitions in cross culture communication class? Why?

I think it is important to talk about superstitions in cross culture communication class.
Because there are various different superstitions by a country. We can know the different thoughts of each country by talking about it. It is very interesting.


Is communication affected by superstitions?

Yes I do. We can understand the way of thinking of the country by talking about the superstition of each other's countries. We'll delve into them.


Do you believe in superstitions? If yes, what superstitions do you believe?

Yes, I believe it. "A relative dies if you do not cover the thumb when you watched a hearse." This is one of the Japanese superstitions. It become ingrained habit as a habit.


Why do you do, use, or believe in them?

I do that for no fathomable reason. It is a thing called "the superstition".

TIME

1. Time is money.

It means that because time is precious, you must not spend time idly.

2. A stitch in time saves nine.

It means that you need to prepare anything in advance lest you should fail.

3.There's no time like the present.

It means that if i can think of something to do, I should do it immediately.

4.Let's meet at 4. If I'm not there by 5, leave without me at 6, and I'll be there at 7.

Not for sure, but I think it means that time can't wait.

HOMEWORK3

1. Do you judge people according to what they wear? Why?

I tend to judge people according to what they weare. Because first impression get decided clothes. It's refrect a wearer's personality.
I think that never judge the person's character by the clothe he or she wears. For example, I'm always flamboyantly dressed, but I'm quite innosent.


2 Do you think Japanese society puts an importance on clothing when judging other people from another country?

I don't think so. We aren't judged by their appearance what they where come from.


3. What colors are you wearing now? Do they reflect your mood?

I'm wearing blue knit one-piece. Yes I do. I choose what I wear tomorrow before I go to bed.

I discuss whatever with a friend. I'm not much care about that.

Yes, I have.
For example, I'm careful person. But my friend is careless.

HOMEWORK2

1.a. Do you have any international friends or a host family?
If so, how would you express your condolences to them if a family member died? If not, then how would you express consolences to an American host family if their Grandmother died?

I haven't international friends and a host family.
If I have them, I will say that "Please accept my condolences." or "I share your pain."


b. Have you ever been to a foreign funeral?

I never have been to a foreign funeral.



2. a.Why are Japanese designer label crazy? Why is what you wear so important?

Japanease are quick to catch on to a trend. Also they are always in fashion. I think that to wear designer label is status. It's a kind of ostentatious display of wealth. Recentry however, the wey we think of them is changing. Recently, Japanease like inexpensive brand. For example, "UNIQLO" or "ZARA" or "H&M". UNIQLO's items are especially cheap but decent brand. So I often wearing thease brand items.


b.What does “Don’t judge a book by it’s cover.” mean to you?

In my opinion, the meaning of the "Don't judje a book by it's cover" is "Never judge people by appearance". I think that it's important to look below the sur face of antagonist. But it's hard for one to understand what's inside of person. Therefore, We need to talk to each other.

HOMEWORK1

1. Do you agree with the web site's description?What do you do that can be called "wrapping"? Give examples and reasons for your actions.

I agree with them.
For example, when Japanese give someone present, they order gift-wrapping. Then salesclerk overpack them. But It's very lovely. So Japanese appriciate it very much. Becides there are fenced house. Then when it grows dark, we close the curtains. There are double them. It may surprise foreigner to lern that. But Japanese dislike what look at in their house.


2. a. Where do you go when you die?

I don't know. But it often said that Japanese go to heaven or hell when we die. Truth is heaven knows. I think that we may are born again.


b. Explain why do Japanese have death memorial services 1 month, 1 year, 3 years, 7 years, etc. after a person's death?

Teaching of Buddhism thought that deader come back to this world in these year. We talk about deader's memories while we have a meal. Japanese believe that odd numbers are considered lucky.

Welcome Colgate University Students!

I talked to Colgate University Students. She is 20. She studies Japanese history. But she can't speak Japanese. I tell her how to buy a food ticket. We talked about our hobbies, family, dream and life style. I relaxed and enjoy talking with her. Please have the chance to talk to foreigner again.

World Religions

When I greet my friend, I always say "Ohayo".
On the other hand, when I greet teacher, I always say "Ohayogozaimasu" .
I change my tune by antagonist. Because in Japan have honorific.

When I talk to people, I sometimes touch their. It make people closer.

Buddhism

I chanting a Buddhist sura with my mother everyday. Because my grandfather dead 5 years ago. After that, we became that.

Even now, the ethnic conflict is still not fully resolved. Each race insists on cultural sense of values of oneself, and the reason is because it doesn't accept other racial cultural sense of values.
